The Portland Chapter formed in the summer of 2012. We met through typical parental contacts, ballet lessons, and schools. Our 5 founding members included parents, a speech-language pathologist and a reading specialist; who were disheartened by how the current strategies for teaching “certain” kids to read were not working. We met at our favorite coffee shop for several months and became passionate about our mission. We discovered the work of Decoding Dyslexia New Jersey. When we saw what they had achieved in a short period of time — we knew what we needed to do! Recently, other chapters have formed. The need is great. Join our community!
Prior to COVID, we hosted a monthly lecture series for parents and educators on the first Monday evening of each month from Sept to June, 7-9 pm. Location: Providence Medical Ctr, 4805 NE Glisan St, Portland OR
Currently this meetings are provided via Zoom! Check our events calendar for details.
We hope to see you soon!
