The Decoding Dyslexia Oregon, Portland Chapter formed in the summer of 2012. We met through typical parental contacts, ballet lessons, and schools. Our 5 founding members included parents, a speech-language pathologist and a reading specialist; who were disheartened by how the current strategies for teaching “certain” kids to read were not working. We met at our favorite coffee shop for several months and became passionate about our mission. We discovered the work of Decoding Dyslexia New Jersey. When we saw what they had achieved in a short period of time — we knew what we needed to do! Recently, the Corvallis and South Willamette Valley (Eugene) Chapters have formed. The need is great. Join our community!
We host monthly informational meetings* for parents and teachers on the first Monday evening of each month from Sept to June, 7-9 pm.
Check our events calendar for details.
